Is Strength Training Really Necessary? I don't want bulky muscles!

Updated: Jan 4, 2024

What's the big deal...should your workouts include lifting weights?

My overwhelming response would be YES! And if you're a woman, it's a YES YES!

Daily function activities (DFA) are the activities we do to live our lives. We get up out of bed. We sit down and stand up from the kitchen table. We bend over to tie our shoes. You may not be training for a specific Olympic sport but if you want to continue to do your DFA, you must include strength training in your workouts NOW.

Building strong muscles doesn't just give you bigger muscles (and if you're a woman, you WON'T get bulky!) but it keeps your joints healthy, your bones strong, and helps maintain good posture and balance along with mobility.

I'm all for being independent for as long as I live. Who's with me?
